Hertha
Bengtson

Hertha Bengtson was born in 1917 in Blekinge, Sweden. She
began her ceramic career as a patterndesigner at Hackefors
Porcelain factory. At the age of 24 she came to Rörstrand
where she received a proper education with studies in Paris
at Académie de la Grand Chaumiere and was given the
opportunity to grow as an artist. Hertha Bengtson came to
revolutionize every day objects with her prize winning Blå
Eld and Koka Blå series through their functional and
bold designs. In 1964 after 24 years at Rörstrand she
left the company for Höganäs Keramik and later on
to work at the German Rosenthal group.
