Born into an artistic environment in Copenhagen 1919, Quistgaard
early on became an apprentice at silversmith Georg Jensen.
The multitalented Quistgaard established Dansk Designs in
1945. For over two decades he designed numerous series of
furniture and artifacts ranging from ceramics to fine crafted
wooden objects, always approaching things from the sculptor's
perspective and with respect for the traditions of craftsmanship.
With his abundant originality and the new techniques used
Quistgaard helped characterize an important era in Danish
design and through this claimed world wide recognition.
